The 2012 Lake of the Ozarks Shootout
The event is great for the entire family - there will be plenty to see and do for people of all ages. The Shootout is the largest unsanctioned boat race in the United States and it has recorded speeds of 208 mph in the past two years. Some of the boaters claim the speeds are even faster!! The 2012 race will incorporate new radar guns to ensure the most accurate speeds recorded.
With over 100,000 people in attendance for the various events, the event was able to raise $70,570 to give to local charities. Local charities included eight different Fire Departments in the area. The events offered last year included the Treasure Hunt, Golf Tournament, Concerts, Shootout on the Strip Street Party, PWC Dam Run, Auction, Make-a-Wish Boat Rides, the Mini-Shootout, remote controlled boat race, poker run Fireworks Display and Boating Racing. The Shootout committee has worked hard to add even more fun events that will help raise additional funds for the the charities. This will be a time to enjoy great friends, family, activities and some amazing boat races, not to mention a great way to support an event that benefits our local charitable organizations!!
Here is a schedule of the events this weekend.
