Halloween Safety Tips for the Entire Family

As you get ready to take your kids out for Halloween this year, consider discussing some basic rules with to help ensure a fun evening.  These rules are not all-inclusive and you may need to adapt them to your particular situation but hopefully these will give you some ideas for a safer Halloween!!   
  • Younger children should always walk with an adult.
  • Older children should always walk in a group.
  • Bring and USE a flashlight.
  • Wear brightly colored costumes.
  • Use reflective tape or glow sticks to make your children are visible.
  • Cross at crosswalks and make eye contact with drivers before you cross.
  • Inspect all candy before allowing your child to snack.
  • Older children should carry a phone if possible AND answer it when Mom calls. 
We hope that you and your children have a fun-filled night of trick-or-treating - be sure to use caution and watch out for kiddos as they are crossing streets!
