2. Do You Need to Finance?

If you are buying the car for your significant other and you need to finance it, a surprise may be out of the question, especially if you'll both need to be listed on the loan documents and paperwork. However, if you explain your situation to the dealership, they may be able to work with you to carry out the surprise.

3. Registration & Title

As with the financing, you'll want to consider how you are going to register and title the surprise vehicle. If you're buying a car for a family member, you'll most likely want it registered in their name, however, if it's a surprise, they won't be present to sign the papers. Once again, just talk to the dealership, they may be able to work around the situation. 

4. Keep It a Secret

If keeping the new vehicle a surprise, it's important to let the dealership know. One reason may be obvious, and that is so they don't let the other person know. You won't want them calling your home and alerting the other person of the car's existence. Another reason you'll want to let the dealership know is that they may have experience dealing with surprise cars before. They could work with you and hold the car until the surprise date and work with you on financing, registration and titling.
