All About the 2020 GMC Acadia

The SUV has become the vehicle of choice for many families. History of the Acadia

The GMC Acadia is a mid-sized crossover SUV.  The ‘crossover SUV’ was the transition from mid-sized truck-based SUVs and minivans to a smaller, more ‘car-like’ SUV.  The crossover is simply an SUV on a unibody chassis like a car, which makes the ride, agility, and economy of the crossover much better than the body on the frame SUVs of the past.  The first Acadia was offered in 2007 and shared the same platform as the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave.

The first-generation GMC Acadia ran from 2007 to 2017 with a mid-model update in 2013, which included cosmetic updates on both the interior and exterior.  In 2017, the current Acadia body style went into production and remained untouched until the 2020 model year.

What’s New for 2020

The GMC Acadia has always been a stylish and capable SUV, but bolder is better right?  GMC thinks so!  All-new for 2020, GMC is releasing a completely refreshed Acadia. You can see right away that this Acadia has a more aggressive look and feel.  And a true make-over just wouldn’t be complete without a new powerplant, so GMC is offering an available 2.0L Turbocharged 4 Cylinder engine. In addition, a 9-speed transmission will replace the previous 6-speed as the standard transmission for the 2.0L, 2.5L, and 3.6L engines.

Trim Levels

The 2020 Acadia will be available in four different trim levels, all with seating for up to 7 passengers. The SLE and SLT trims will look very similar from the outside. The SLE will come standard with the 2.5L 4-cylinder engine and cloth seating, while the SLT will include the 2.0L Turbo, leather seats, and hands-free programmable power liftgate.

In addition, and for the first time ever, an AT4 package is available in 2020. This package gives the Acadia an off-road look with a unique grille, specially designed wheels, and black chrome accents. The AT4 trim will come standard with the 3.6L V6 paired with the 9-speed transmission.

The Denali trim continues to be the high line for the 2020 Acadia. The Denali has a distinct exterior design combined with bold and aggressive details. It demands attention with a powerful presence. The interior of the Denali offers premium refinement with upgraded materials including real ash wood.
