7 Brilliant Car Hacks You Never Would Have Thought Of

You take your car everywhere. You trust it to keep you and your family safe, and you probably rely on it even more than you realize. Considering all of the time you spend in your car, shouldn't you be able to maximize your experience to make things as easy as possible on both you and your vehicle?

This week, the team at Hulett Chevrolet-Buick-GMC is here to share with you a few brilliant car hacks. When used appropriately, they can make your life much easier!

1. Your Gas Gauge Points To The Side Of The Car Your Gas Tank Is On.
You'll never have to wonder which side to pull up on at the gas station ever again If your gas gauge has a needle, the needle will point to the side of the car your gas tank is on when it's angled towards 'E'.

2. Toothpaste Can Be Used To Clear Up Your Headlights.
Bugs, UV rays, and general grime can fog up your headlights, which reduces your visibility. Before paying someone to buff up your headlights, though, try applying toothpaste in small, circular motions with a soft cloth. Many drivers report that this helps clear up their headlights in no time.

3. Your Seat Warmer Can Keep Food Warm.
Worried that the pizza will get cold before you make it back to your house? You don't have to be! Place to the pizza box in your passenger seat and turn the seat warmer on to keep your food nice and hot.

4. Closet Organizers Work Great On Seat Backs.
Don't let the clutter in your backseat get the best of you. Hang a closet shoe organizer over the back of the front seats and use it to store anything from snacks to loose change.

5. Hand Sanitizer Can De-Ice Frozen Locks
If your lock has been frozen over, you can use simple hand sanitizer to de-ice the lock. The alcohol in the sanitizer can help melt through the ice.

6. Use An Empty Cereal Box Or Chip Bag As A Trash Can
If left unchecked, trash can accumulate in your vehicle very quickly. You can keep it contained by using an empty cereal box or chip bag to collect it. When it's full, simply throw the whole thing away!

7. Stabilize Windshield Cracks With Nail Polish
If you have a crack or a chip in your windshield, paint over it with clear nail polish to keep it from spreading. This certainly won't substitute for an official repair, but it can help tide you over until you can get it fixed or replaced.
