13 Items to Keep In Your Car at All Times
Anytime you head out in your vehicle, you are embarking on an adventure. You may make it to your destination, or you could find yourself stopped on the side of the road needing assistance. It's always best to be prepared for these situations so that you have exactly what you need when you need it. In fact, if you carry specific items in your vehicle, it could make those moments when you're stopped much easier.
Here at Hulett Chevrolet Buick GMC, we know how frustrating it can be to have vehicle troubles, and while we make it our priority to get you back on the road as fast as possible - we also know it can take some time to get from the road to our shop. Here are thirteen items you'll want to carry in your vehicle at all times to be prepared.
Cell Phone Charger
This may seem like an obvious piece of equipment, but how many times do you accidentally drag your phone charger into the house, only to then forget to take it back outside to your car. Save yourself some worry and keep one in the trunk that you don't touch. In the case of emergencies, you'll be glad you had a spare.
Jumper Cables
This particular tool comes in handy on many occasions, and not just because YOU'RE the one stranded. You could run into someone in the parking lot, or be at a friend's house, only to realize that you were thankful to have these in your vehicle.
Flashlight
Studies show that there are half as many drivers at night as there are during the day, but the incident rates rise higher as it gets darker. While this is commonly caused by headlight malfunctions (by the way, we would love to fix that for you!), sometimes it's just because it's harder to see at night. Always keep a flashlight in the vehicle in case something does happen, you can see easier.
Roadside Flares/Reflective Triangle
Whether you're stopped on the road during the night or day, it's important to have some form of alert to let people know that you're having trouble. They will be able to see you easier and slow down, or even stop and help you.
Snacks
Keeping a few snacks in the trunk or back seat can help should anything happen and you have to spend a while waiting for a tow truck.
Warm Blankets
You may not need to keep this item in your car at all times, but you will definitely want to get them in your car when winter starts to get close. If you end up in the ditch during a really cold day, you'll appreciate these.
Ice Scraper
Ice scrapers don't take up much room, so you can stick one in your glovebox and you won't even have to remember it when the seasons change.
First Aid Kit
This item isn't just helpful when you are stranded somewhere, they can also be helpful when you're at the park, baseball field, and out and about.
Water Bottles
Keep a water bottle per seat in your vehicle so that you have enough for everyone if you ever get stranded.
Tow Strap
This is one of those items that you never realize you need - until you need it. Carrying one just in case can be helpful.
Folding Shovel
Whether you're stuck in the snow or a ditch, a folding shovel can be helpful for getting you out of a sticky situation.
LifeHammer
Should you be involved in an accident where your vehicle is underwater, you can use this handy little gadget to cut your seat belt, break the window and make your great escape.
Portable Air Compressor
If your tire shows signs of a slow leak, you can use the air compressor to fill it back up before bringing it out to our shop for new tires at the Lake of the Ozarks. This is also helpful to have on hand when you realize that the pressure is low and just needs to be topped off instead of having to go to the gas station.
